At Númenor

Galadriel convinces Halbrand to join the fleets to Middle-earth after recounting her battles and personal losses against Sauron. At the same time, Kemen, son of Pharaoh, attempts to destroy the ships preparing to depart, with the goal that Galadriel and Míriel would fall in this battle and and this would allow Pharaoh to come to power with the support of the people.

However, Kemen is captured on the scene by Isildur (son of Elendil). This also helps Isildur be allowed to join the fleets, as an esteemed rower, although he had tried in every way but was refused, even by his closet friends.

The fleets crew are mostly young and ambitious.

Harfoot and the Stranger

While protecting Nori and the other Harfoots from a pack of monster wolves, the Stranger uses his physical power and magic and it injures him in the arm. He then casts a spell to create an ice crystal that heals the wound, but it ends up blowing up Nori standing next to him, scaring her.

Fading Light at Lindon

King Gil-galad reveals to Elrond that the great tree in Lindon is dying, which indicates that the Light of Eldar is fading and signaling danger to all the Elves remaining still in Middle-earth.

The Elves gain wisdom, strength, magic, and immortality thanks in part to the Light of Eldar emitted from the two divine trees in Vanilor, however, they were destroyed in the first war with Morgoth. When this light weakens, if the Elves continue to stay in Middle-earth, their souls will begin to deteriorate and they will be immortal no more; but if they return to Vanilor they would not be able to help the humans against Sauron.

King Gil-galad further makes it clear that the goal of sending Elrond to the Dwarven land of Khazad-dûm was to find out the rare ore mithril - said to have an immortal light that enables the Elves to continue living on Middle-earth. .

This leaves Elrond in the dilemma because he has sworn to Prince Durin IV not to reveal the mithril secrects to anyone.

Divided Southlanders

Half of the villagers obeys Adar's claim and flock to submission, believing he was Sauron. Half stay at the Elf Tower at Bronwyn's call to fight.

The boy Theo gives the magical hilt of the sword to Arondir, who realizes it is the key to helping the evil force turn the Southlands into a kingdom of evil as Sauron's henchmen. Bronwyn appears bewildered and wants to surrender, but Arondir persuade her to fight even though they are almost hopeless.

Seeing their watchtower as the target, the remaining villagers prepare for battle against the approaching Orc army.

At the same time, Galadriel's fleet begin to sail off the island for the Middle-earth.

Númenoreans often fear that one day the Elves would rule over them; they are afraid of the superior characteristics of the Elves such as: not getting old, not sleeping, working tirelessly… Faced with the displeasure of the people when Galadriel appears in the island without any punishment, Chancellor Pharazon has to use cunning and fine wine to calm them down.

In addition, the Palantír - the Seeing Stone enshrined at the castle shows a vision of tNúmenor being devastated and engulfed in a great wave, which, according to Queen Regent Míriel, is related to Elven Galadriel's arrival here.

In the Southlands, Adar - who is called God - Father by the Orcs releases Arondir to the village to send a message to the people of the South: they could continue to live here if they forsake all claims over the regions and swore allegiance to Adar.

The hilt that Theo got by stealing turns out to be a treasure Adar is looking for. The hilt transforms into a full sword and exerts magical powers when exposed to the blood of the wielder; It also has the power to hypnotize and manipulate people to side with the darkness.

At Khazad-dûm, Elrond gradually wins back the trust of Prince Durin IV and his wife. The dwarf Prince reveals to Elrond that  he is secretly mining an extremely valuable ore, mithril - which is lighter than silk but harder than iron.

Later, in The Lord of the Rings, Frodo, on his journey to destroy the master ring, carries a protective chain mail made from mithril, passed down from his ancestors. However, the true origin of this mithril shirt remains unknown.

RELATED

The Númenoreans once allied with the Elves in the war against Morgoth, and after the victory they were rewarded by the Elves, who help building the island into a rich, luxurious, and splendid Kingdom.

However, for some mysterious reason, some time later the Númenoreans broke ties with the Elves; Anti-Elves sentiment has became popular, even the last king of Númenor, Elros (Elrond's half-Elven brother) because of his support to the Elves was forced to abdicate and imprisoned in his own tower.

Elendil takes Galadriel to the Hall of Lore built by Elros, and there Galadriel discovers clues to a great plot of Sauron with the starting point of the Southlands.

Also from documents in the Hall of Lore, Galadriel discovers that Halbrand is actually a descendant and the sole heir of the king of the peoples in the South. In the past, the Southerners sided with Morgoth against the Númenor-Elves alliance. This may be the reason why Halbrand refused and concealed his identity, and decided to leave the Southlands.

In the Southlands, Arondir and many of the Elves guarding the outpost are enslaved by monsters to do some construction work for them. They stage a counterattack to escape but most are killed; Arondir is possibly the only one of them to survive and is brought by the monsters to their leader, Adar.

The sea monster kills most of the people on the shipwrecks. The only man alive is Halbrand and he tries to save Galadriel. The two then struggle to survive in a big sea storm.

In the Harfoots' village, a "star" falls and creates a deep burning pit, in the center of which is a large and naked old man. Nori - a curious and goodhearted Harfoot girl tries to save and help the mysterious stranger, and figure out what he wants to say.

In the Southlands, Arondir and Bronwyn discover a burning village, with no casualties but with underground huge passages, apparently dug by monsters.

Bronwyn returns to her village to warn everyone, but it's hard to make them believe in her. She returns home and discovers that the house is being attacked by a monster from the underground. Bronwyn and her son struggles against the monster, are lucky enough to get it killed. She brings the monster's head to the villagers as evidence and urge them to evacuate to the Elven Tower for safety.

King Gil-galad entrusts Elrond to work with Lord Celebrimbor of Ekegion - the Kingdom of Elven Smiths - the finest blacksmiths, on some ambitious project.

Celebrimbor has a plan: to create something of great beauty and power. But first, he needs to build a tower big enough to create the greatest smithy Middle-earth had ever seen. And he needs it done in the spring. This will require a lot of manual labor.

Elrond has some ideas and decides to travel to Khazad-dûm ("Kingdom of the Dwarves") and renew his friendship with his old friend Durin IV (Owain Arthur), a dwarf prince.

The process of mending old friendships in order to move forward with asking for some favor is also quite difficult because Elrond's dwarf friend is sulking on the childish reason that Elrond did not attend his wedding in the past (even though the dwarf prince did not call, nor text, nor chat on Facebook, nor Whatsapp, nor send a wedding invitation to Elrond at all).
