The Wheel of Time Season 2 Recap: Dragon Reborn under Light or in Dark? [Recap Episodes 7/8]

In season 2 ofThe Wheel of Time, after discovering that the battle at the Eye of the World did not kill the Dark One but instead accidentally freed one of his powerful lieutenants, Moiraine tries everything to find and protect Rand – the Dragon Reborn as the last hope. Meanwhile, the Dark forces also find many ways to lure Rand in or eliminate him.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 Episode 1 "A Taste of Solitude"

After the battle at the Eye of the World, Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) lost her ability to channel One Power, and she come to stay at the house of Adeleas and Verin, along with her Warder Lan (Daniel Henney). Despite Lan's caring about her, Moiraine always acts cold and just wants Lan to leave her.

Moiraine secretly leaves to carry out the plan alone but is attacked by three Fades. Lan tries to save her but both are badly injured. Luckily Verin and Adeleas appear in time to rescue them.
At the White Tower, Egwene (Madeleine Madden) and Nynaeve (Zoë Robins) continue their channeling train; However, both face limitations of their own. Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood) offers to train Nynaeve, but the other Aes Sedai are hesitant because Liandrin's previous teachings have caused death among novices.

Perrin (Marcus Rutherford) and Loial (Hammed Animashaun) join a group of Shienarans led by Ingtar Shinowa to search for the Horn that Padan Fain has stolen.

Season 2 Episode 2 "Strangers and Friends"

Moiraine and Lan recover from the Fades' previous attack, and prepare to leave for the White Tower even though Moiraine was exiled by the Amyrlin previously.

Rand (Josha Stradowski) goes to Cairhien in an effort to find a way to reach the fake Dragon Reborn, Logain (Álvaro Morte), who is being detained in a mental institution here. Rand develops romantic feelings for an innkeeper named Selene (Natasha O'Keeffe).

At the White Tower, Liandrin urged and lobbied for Nynaeve to undergo the final Test to become the Accepted, which would allow Liandrin to train her. Meanwhile, Egwene befriends Elayne Trakand (Ceara Coveney), the daughter-heiress of the Kingdom of Andor. Mat (Dònal Finn) befriends Min (Kae Alexander) who is being held captive by Liandrin in a room next door. Min has a vision of Mat stabbing Rand with the Dark Dagger.
Moiraine rejects Lan and asks Alanna to escort Lan to the White Tower.

Perrin and the Shienarans are attacked by Seanchan forces while spending the night in a village. Loial and many Shienarans are captured, and forced to submit to the Seanchan High Lady Suroth (Karima McAdams), with Ishamael (Fares Fares) appearing at her side with a unknown role.

Season 2 Episode 3 "What Might Be"

Rand asks Logain to teach him how to control the One Power without going mad and killing the ones he loves most. Logain only agrees to help if Rand brings him a bottle of Ghealdan wine. Rand accompanies Selene to a party for Cairhienin nobles to get wine. After Rand receives the wine, Logain reveals that the One Power cannot be controlled. Returning deadlocked, Rand accidentally sets fire to Selene's inn with his Power.
Nynaeve entered the Ter'angreal Arch to undergo the Test: it is like a mixed dream of reality and falsehood. If she chose to live forever in that dream, it would mean she was dead in real life. Nynaeve chose a happy life with Lan, her daughter and her friends from Two Rivers village in a dream that keeps her to stay in the Arch for a long time and everyone thinks she was dead.

Season 2 Episode 4 "Daughter of the Night"


Moiraine returns to Cairhien and meets Logain, forcing him to help her train Rand on channeling.

At the White Tower, Liandrin tells Nynaeve about Perrin's capture by the Seanchan, leading to Nynaeve, Egwene, and Elayne sneaking out of the Tower to rescue him. However, they are ambushed by Liandrin and quickly knocked unconscious. Meanwhile, Perrin gradually learns that he is what is known as the Wolfbrother.
Min is approached by Ishamael at an inn, who promises to help her remove her vision abilities if she takes Mat to Cairhien.

Alanna finds a prophecy revealing that Lanfear (aka Daughter of the Night) has returned to the world.
Meanwhile, Rand and Selene leave Cairhien to travel into the countryside, where a Fade attacks them. Rand kills it with the Power, and confesses to Selene his channeling abilities and his love for her. While the two are making love again, Selene reveals that she is a monster too and is about to show off when Moiraine appears and kills her. Moiraine reveals that Selene is Lanfear and urges Rand to run away.

A moment later Lanfear revives.

Season 2 Episode 5 "Damane"

Perrin and Hopper leave Elyas to save Loial and the Shienarans. Perrin then returns to the town where they were attacked, which is now occupied by Whitecloaks led by Dain Bornhald (Jay Duffy) and Eamon Valda. In the ensuing fight, Perrin saves Aviendha (Ayoola Smart), a young Aiel woman, and spares Bornhald's life. Perrin is good at making more and more friends on the way.

In the Seanchan Empire, Suroth is demoted for disobeying the orders of the Seanchan High Lord Turak (Daniel Francis). However, Ishamael wins Turak's favor by gifting him the Horn of Valere.

At Ishamael's command, Liandrin delivers Nynaeve, Elayne, and Egwene to Suroth to transform them into Damane. However, Elayne and Nynae manage to escape and they meet Ryma (Nyokabi Gethiaga), an Aes Sedai hiding in Falme in a mission to research about Damane.

Verin (Meera Syal) goes to the White Tower to investigate the disappearance of three girls, and she discovers signs of the existence of Dark Ajah – that is, Aes Sedai who have sworn allegiance to the Dark One.

Rand and Moiraine escape Lanfear's pursuit and return to her old house where her sister Anvaere and nephew Barthanes live. Instead of continuing to flee, Moiraine decides to take Rand into Tel'aran'rhiod, somekind of the world of dreams, where he can learn what Ishamael is planning. As he fell asleep, Rand finds himself immediately captured and bind on a wheel by the waiting Lanfear.

Season 2 Episode 6 "Eyes Without Pity"

In Falme, Renna (Xelia Mendes-Jones), a Sul'dam, gradually breaks and subdues Egwene, turning her into a Damane, controlled through a necklace called A'dam.

Meanwhile, Nynaeve and Elayne hide with Ryma in Falme and they attempt to research how to remove an A'dam necklace to rescue Egwene. Unfortunately, Nynaeve uses so much Power in the process that their location is discovered by Seanchan soldiers. Ryma is taken away.

In Tel'aran'rhiod, Lanfear tries to convince Rand to side with her by promising to protect him from Ishamael and showing him that Egwene is in Falme, while threatening to kill Moiraine if she sees them go together. When he wakes up, Rand decides to leave Moiraine's house to go to Falme to find Egwene.

At the same time, Mat and Min arrived at Cairhien; Rand and Mat meet by chance, Rand invites Mat to go to Falme with them. However, Min warns Mat that Ishamael intends for him to go to Falme with Rand, where he might kill Rand like the vision she saw. This causes Mat to avoid going with Rand.

Lan seeks to meet with Siuan Sanche - Amyrlin seat (Sophie Okonedo) about Moiraine's situation and actions, causing Siuan and 40 Aes Sedai to go to Cairhien to summon Moiraine at the moment Moiraine's younger sister wants to kick her out of the house.
Before Rand could leave to rescue his ex-lover, he is stopped by Lan, Alanna.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 Episode 7 "Daes Dae'mar" - Game of Thrones

Mat was kidnapped by Lanfear from Cairhien and taken to Ishamael's place in Falme. Ishamael gives Mat a tea to make him see through and accept the darker side of his nature.

Nynaeve and Elayne connect with Loial and learn that only the Sul'dams can access the cell where Egwene is being held. They decide to use an A'dam's necklace to capture a Sul'dam in preparation for their plan to rescue Egwene.
At Cairhien, Rand is brought to the Amyrlin Seat - Siuan Sanche, who intends to control and use him as as a tool against the Darkness.
Moiraine's nephew Barthanes is revealed to be a Darkfriend and is tasked by Liandrin with killing Moiraine, but Anvaere discovers the plot and locks him in a cell.
Rand convinces Lanfear to help him get to Falme. Lanfear attacks the Foregate to distract Siuan, allowing Moiraine and Lan to escape with Rand. Before that, thanks to talking with Logain, Lan learns that Ishamael did not actually still  Moiraine's access to One Power, but only created a shield that prevented her from reaching the source. Rand uses his Power to break the shield around Moiraine, allowing her to channel again.
Moiraine uses the One Power to open a Gateway that would take them to Falme, but Siuan catches up and applies the Oath to force Moiraine to close the portal. Lanfear appears right after and easily defeats Siuan, possibly kills her, and reopens the gate.
