Kang Is the Main Antagonist in Ant-man 3 but He Is Not "He Who Remains"

In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania 2023 (Ant-man 3), Kang the Conquer is now identified as the main antagonist, however this character is different with Kang He Who Remains who appeared in Marvel's Loki series aired on Disney+ in 2021. Ant-man 3 is the first film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 5.

In Ant-man 3, a Kang variant - a "time-traveling, multiverse enemy" is trapped in the Quantum Realm. Kang needs Pym Particles to get his ship out of here. To do this, Kang proposes a deal to Ant-man: with the ability to rewrite the timeline, Kang will help Ant-man (Paul Rudd) regain his lost time with his family; In return, Ant-man will find Kang what he needs.

Kang The Conquer was first introduced in the Loki series season 1 (2021) broadcast on Disney+, known as the creator of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) whose job is to rule out any variants that potentially threaten the sacred timeline in the multiverse to ensure that the timeline is kept unilinear (unbranched).

Kang in Loki is recalled by himself as "He Who Remains" - that is, the only Kang left after eliminating all other Kang variants. After "He Who Remains" Kang was killed by the female Loki variant, the TVA collapsed, the universe's timeline began to branch out, and it's possible that many other Kang variants have popped up across the multiverse.

Kang has been described by Loki season 1 lead writer Michael Waldron as the MCU's "next big cross-movie villain", while Ant-man 3's writer Jeff Loveness described Kang as "top-tier, A-list Avengers villain". To build Kang's image in this film, Loveness researched different versions of Kang from DC Comics such as Rama-Tut and Scarlet Centurion and described him as an "infinite snake eating infinite tails" in being "a man literally at war against himself". Director Peyton Reed likened the character to Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan and Julius Caesar.

Actor Jonathan Majors who played Kang had to apply a new way of acting for this character in Ant-man 3 because the personality, psychology, and physical appearance of this variant are completely different from Kang in the Loki series that he played before. .

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is scheduled to premiere in Hollywood, Los Angeles on February 6, 2023, and will be released in theaters on February 17, 2023.

PLOT OF WEREWOLF BY NIGHT

Following the death of Ulysses Bloodstone - an "immortal" monster-hunter, five experienced monster hunters, including Jack Russell, are summoned by Ulysses' widow Verussa to the Bloodstone Manor. Here, they participate in a monster hunt and whoever wins will become the new leader and possesses the powerful BloodStone. Ulysses' estranged daughter Elsa also come to join the competition, despite her stepmother Verussa's warnings against doing so.

Their target to slay is a captured octopus-headed monster that had been implanted with Bloodstone. This monster is actually a friend of Russell's, named "Ted", and his goal here is to rescue his friend.

Later, Russell and Elsa work together to both rescue Ted and win the Bloodstone. Russell destroys the outer wall of the maze so they can escape. Ted runs into the forest after Elsa removes the Bloodstone from his body. However, the Bloodstone reacts violently when Russell touches it, indicating that he is also a monster.

Verussa captures Russell and Elsa, places them in a cage, and uses Bloodstone to trigger Russell's transformation into his werewolf form. Instead of killing Elsa as Verussa intended, the werewolf break the cage and kill Verussa's guards.

In the final events, Russell wakes up in the woods in human form with Ted watching over him, and is pleased to know that Elsa is safe. Meanwhile, Elsa becomes the new owner of Bloodstone and the family's Manor and seems to wonder how to deal with it.

THE FUTURE MONSTERVERSE OF MARVEL?

In September 2022, Co-Executive Producer Brian Gay said that Werewolf by Night will begin to explore a variety of monsters that have existed in the MCU for centuries, whose shapes have been hinted at through artworks of monster heads on the wall of Bloodstone Manor.

Gay also explained that the film's ending intentionally causes Russell and Bloodstone to "completely change" into a space of color instead of black and white, as a hint that both will appear in their current timeline of MCU, however this remains uncertain.

Marvel Studio President Kelvin Feige also said this special presentation would introduce a piece of the MCU that is "quite important" to the future of this universe.

The Two Goats of Thor: Being Drivers By Day and Endless Feast By Night [Thor: Love and Thunder]

Marvel has released some colorful character posters of the movie Thor: Love and Thunder, notably the two legendary goats of Thor, Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder who pull Thor's chariot according to Norse mythology.

The old Norse names of goats are Tanngrisnir (Toothgnasher) and Tanngnjóstr (Toothgrinder). These are divine beasts because they have the ability to pull the chariot to fly through space, in tireless journeys.

Because often travelling in a goat-drawn carriage, Thor also has another nickname, The Lord of the Goats. Anyway, does Thor has any resemblance of these fantastic beasts?

In addition to the role of pulling the chariot, Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder also serve as Thor's food reserves or some kind of  endless supper. During his travels, if Thor could not find a delicious feast, he would have these two goats slaughtered, leaving a pile of skins and bones. The next morning, Thor would use his Thunder Hammer Mjölnir to point at the pile of skin and bones to resurrect the two goats.

Basically, they are drivers by day and meal by night.

During one of his travels, Thor spent the night at a farmer's house and slaughtered the two goats for dinner, asking the host to preserve the skins and bones. The farmer's son stole a bone and cut it up to eat marrow. As a result, the next morning when Thor revived the two goats, one of them became crippled in one leg.

Thor was very angry, the farmer was so frightened that he offered his two children as servants to Thor.

It is a story in Norse mythology. At the moment it is not clear whether the inclusion of Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder on the poster just to increase the humor of the movie or these two beasts would have some interesting role in the film's plot.

Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 8, 2022, as part of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
