Okavango has amazing natural features. When the rivers n the delta are dry because of summer, they receive water from the highlands of Angola, the water rises and covers a large area, turning Okavango into an oasis in the heart of the desert. This attracts a large amount of wildlife from the surrounding areas to gather here – like a paradise.

However, the heat of summer causes the water pouring in from the plateau to gradually evaporate, and Okavango falls into aridity for several months. The animals then have to return to the depths of the desert, searching for the remaining ponds, waiting for the rainy season to come.

In the film, the pack of painted wolves goes through an upheaval when the female alpha becomes pregnant and has to take a break from hunting to take care of her young. The pack of wolves without a leader must struggle to hunt for food, not only for them but also to feed the alpha and her cubs.

Elephants are on a journey to find water in the middle of the desert with the worst drought in a century. Their journey is based on the instincts and memories of the leader of the old elephant.

Meanwhile, an immature "Lonely" lioness is banished from her pack when two young males overpower the older lion and take over. Lonely must survive alone through the drought season of the desert. She later pairs up with a male lion, who makes her pregnant but leave after only a few short days.

Lonely – a now single mon after gave birth to four cubs now try her bests to feed, raise and protect her young to create a new family of her own.
