"The Christmas Setup" is an American-Canadian romantic and comedy movie on Christmas and gay love theme, directed by Pat Mills. In the movie, Hugo (Ben Lewis), working as an attorney in New York City, returns to his hometown with his best friend Madelyn (Ellen Wong) to spend the Christmas holiday with his mother Kate (Fran Drescher). It is on this occasion that he reconnects with his high school handsome crush Patrick (Blake Lee).

The movies depicts in a gentle, mild, joyful and subtle way about the emotional developments and gradual chemistry between Hugo and Patrick during the brief Christmas period. The moment they realize each other's feelings is also when Hugo is informed that he will have to move to London for work as a career promotion.
