Six awards went to DUNE, including: Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, Best Production, Best Original Score, and Best Soundtrack.

It is interesting that Dune beat even Spider-man: No Way Home to win the Best Visual Effects award - the only nomination that the Marvel Studios film got this year. No Way Home was a huge commercial success with box office revenue of $1.888 billion while Dune hit $400 million.

Dune is directed by Villeneuve, based on the fantasy novel of the same name by Herbert. The film outlines the power struggle between the Houses on the sandy planet Arrakis, home to the rare spice, giant sandworms and the mystical Freeman natives.

Timothee Chalamet, the actor who played Paul in Dune, appeared on the red carpet ahead of the Oscars in just a Lois Vutton jacket without a shirt underneath. Usually, people will wear it with a shirt or pullover.

"He wore something but it was still topless"

Many people are skeptical of this design being womenswear.

However, the actor born in 1995 is still in the top of the best dressed stars at Oscar 2022 voted by leading entertainment magazines.

At the 2018 Oscars, the fan-favorite Timothee Chalamet received a nomination for Best Actor for his role as Elio in the romantic gay film Call Me By Your Name, but did not win.

Will Smith's First-ever Oscar and Oscar's First-ever Violence

The Oscars 2022 ceremony took place like never before: Will Smith went straight on stage and smacked comedian Chris Rock while he was making a joke about Smith's wife Jada who has her head shaved.

Chris Rock was on stage acting as presenter for the Documentary category. Chris told jokes and everyone was having a good time until he referred to Smith's wife as G.I. Jane (the shaven female character in the 1997 film of the same name, played by Demi Moore). This alluded to the fact that Jada Pinkett Smith (who was sitting next to Will at the ceremony) also shaved her head because of hair loss. Footage shows Jada looked annoyed at the joke.

As soon as Chris finished his joke, Will Smith went straight to the stage and slapped Chris in the face. Everyone had thought it was a joke until Will Smith returned to his seat and yelled twice, "Keep my wife's name out of your f*cking mouth".

Then, also at this ceremony, Will Smith was honored in the category of Best Actor for his role as Richard Williams in the movie King Richard. The film follows the true story of Richard's life and the process of raising and training his two daughters, Venus and Serena, to become the world's top tennis players.

This scene was honored at the Oscars 2022 as Most Cheer-Worthy Moment (or Oscars Cheer Moment). Actually, this is not an Oscar award but an audience vote, a new form that the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences introduced this year to increase fan interest.

This scene has passed 4 other nominations, including:

  • 2nd place – Spider-Man Team Up! – Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
  • 3rd place – Avengers Assemble To Fight Thanos – Avengers: Endgame (2019)
  • 4th place – Effie White Singing "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" – Dreamgirls (2006)
  • 5th place – Neo's Bullet-time Backbend – The Matrix (1999)

This is the first year that the Oscars Cheer Moment category has been added to the Oscars ceremony.

The Justice League – Snyder Cut's victory shows that passionate fans of Snyder and the Justice League Universe are still raving to this day, even though the future of this Universe (SnyderVerse) remains murky so far.

Justice League Snyder Cut's victory also received mixed reactions. The film was only released on the  online platform HBO Max and not premiered in theaters, so many people also wonder how to assess the "Cheer" level of the audience. - as the name of the award is.

Army of the Dead

In the same flow of events, the film Army of the Dead also directed by Jack Snyder also won the Oscars Fan Favorite award, despite the fact that the film only received a moderate score of 5. 7/10 on Imdb, 67% positive by critics and 75% by audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Army of the Dead beat out other nominations including: Cinderella, Minamata, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Tick, Tick... Boom!.

Army of the Dead was conceived and scripted by Jack Snyder since 2007 or even early, but the project implementation encountered many problems and took too long. By the time the film was released, the "ZombieVerse" was no longer something fresh new and became saturated with AMC's The Walking Dead series (2010-) which has been 11 seasons so far. Had the film been made around the 2010s, it would have been a blockbuster with a groundbreaking theme at the time.

In general, when it comes to the ability to manipulate and dominate on Twitter, Jack Snyder fans are the champions.
