Amazon has just announced the official name of the Lord of the Rings prequel TV series is The Rings of Power 2022. The series will explore the story of Middle-earth in the Second Age, several thousand years before the events of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The previous trilogy only exploited the story of the journey to destroy the master ring (One Ring), The Rings of Power 2022 will tell the history of the formation of the powerful rings and the rise of the Dark Lord - Sauron.
- Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
- Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
- Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
- One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne in the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
HISTORY OF THE RINGS OF POWER
At the end of the First Age, the evil forces of Morgoth were defeated; Sauron being a disciple of Morgoth who evaded the summons of the holy Valars to surrender and be judged. Powerful and ambitious, Sauron chose to stay in Middle-earth and seek to control and dominate its people.
Entering the Second Age, Sauron disguised himself as a handsome emissary of the holy Valar, known as Annatar. Sauron approached the leaders of the Elves in the name of enlightenment, spreading knowledge from Valinor - the homeland of the Valars.
Sauron was rejected by the Elves leaders of Lindon, Gil-galad and Elrond, but was able to convince the Elves of Eregion to take him in. Here, with Sauron's help, the land's finest blacksmiths forged the Rings of Power, creating sets of Nine (for Men) and sets of Seven (for Dwarves).
While the blacksmiths crafted a set of Three for themselves (the Elves), Sauron left for Mordor and secretly forged an ultimate ring in the lava of Mount Doom.
Sauron's ring is the master or lord ring, which can control all other rings.
When the Lord of the Rings began to use its Black Speech to summon the other Rings, the Elves discovered Sauron's true intentions. They managed to hide and scatter the Rings into several hands, but Sauron carried out bloody attacks to capture the Rings one by one.
