"Fantastic Beasts 3" Holds Its Simmering Heat, "The Northman" Is Short of Breath

Two of the blockbusters released in April 2022 being "Fantasic Beasts: The Secrects of Dumblore" and "The Northman" suffered a bad opening week, and the situation seems to be worse when Marvel's "Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness ” was released in early May 2022, continuing to disperse a large number of viewers from them.

Fantastic Beasts 3: the Secrets of Dumbledore and the Bowing of Qilin 📺

In the Fantastic Beasts franchise, each movie introduces a mystical creature that plays a central role. In movie 1 Where to find them, the main summoned beast is the Thunderbird, in movie 2 The Crime of Grindelwald is Zouwu, and in now-in-theaters The Secrets of Dumbledore the central magical creature is the Qilin or Qirin.

Movie 3 of the series follows Grindelwald's plot to get acquitted after the Paris massacre in the previous installment; while aiming for the title of  Supreme Mugwump (Head of the International Confederation of Wizards) all over the world.

The leaders of the wizarding world gather in Bhutan to elect the Supreme Mugwump according to a traditional ritual: a rare Qilin will be released on the stands to select and bow to those who have a pure heart.

To prepare for this plan, Grindelwald sends his subordinates, including Credence Barebone, to attack and kill a Qilin mother who had just given birth, taking the cub back. Grindelwald then kills the infant Qilin  in order to exploit its perceptual abilities, thereby learning of Dumblore's plans.

Before the Supreme Mugwump Election Convention takes place, Grindelwald uses magic to reincarnate the dead infant Qilin, obviously without a soul now, and makes it kneel before him.

However, Grindelwald was unaware that the mother Qilin had given birth to twins, and Newt saved the other cub. Dumblore plans to bring this little one to the Elections Convention to uncover Grindelwald's scheme.

The film has the appearance of two close creatures of Newt, the Niffler and the Bowtruckle; both play certain roles in the progression of the film. When Newt was knocked unconscious, Bowtruckle opened Newt's magical case on his own, and Niffler got in and called out "a giant mallard" that flew out to bring the team home.

Two other Fantastic Beasts movies are in development.

Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore to Break the Blood Pact and Duel with Grindelwald 📆

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is a 2022 fantasy film directed by David Yates, from a screenplay by J. K. Rowling and Steve Kloves. It is the sequel to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018), focusing on the confrontation between Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald during World War II.

The film stars an ensemble cast that includes Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, William Nadylam, Poppy Corby-Tuech, Jessica Williams, Jude Law, and Mads Mikkelsen.

In the 1930s, the Wizard World found themselves slowly involved in  World War II and the story will explore magical communities in Bhutan, Germany, and China, in addition to those already known in the previous two films including Brazil, USA and the UK.

Set a few years after the events of The Crimes of Grindelwald, Albus Dumbledore tasked Newt Scamander and his friends to gain access to the headquarters of an army organized by the evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald.

Newt Scamander and his friends' quest leads to a clash with Grindelwald's army, and will leave Dumbledore deciding whether to stay on the sidelines or intervene in the impending war.

From the latest trailer of the movie, Dumbledore would have a duel with Grindelwald.

Filming began in early 2020, but was postponed to near the end of the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Later, Johnny Depp was forced to leave the role of Gellert Grindelwald (and was replaced by Mikkelsen) because of the controversy surrounding his ex-wife Amber. This further delayed the progress of the movie.

Currently, the film's release date is set for April 8, 2022 in the UK and April 15, 2022 in the US in 3D and 2D formats. In addition, the film will also be streamed on HBO Max after 45 days from the date of release.

Two other Fantastic Beasts movies are in development.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: A complicated journey leading to Grindelwald and Credence 🎥

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is a 2016 fantasy film co-produced by the United Kingdom and the United States, as a spin-off and prequel to the Harry Potter film series. It is the first installment in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, and the 9th installment in a bigger series starting with the Harry Potter.

Set in 1926, a British witch and "magical creatures expert" Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) arrives in New York with a suitcase full of magical creatures. The Niffler accidentally escapes the suitcase causing him to search, and eventually mistakenly retrieve the suitcase of someone else and get into trouble with the magical world of New York.

At the time of the mysterious death of a Senator, local officials decide to arrest Newt, believing that one of Newt's beasts escaping from his suitcase was the culprit. Newt is sentenced to death but is rescued by Queenie and Jacob, who later help him to find the creatures that escaped from the suitcase.

Meanwhile, the vast destruction happening in the city is actually caused by Credence (Ezra Miller). Credence is the host of the Dark Obscurus with enormous power.

Percival Graves (Colin Farrell) tries to approach Credence and convince him to take his side. Later, Graves is revealed to be the notorious Grindelwald in disguise (Johnny Depp) – a dark wizard who was arrested by Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) but escaped on the way being transferred to Europe for trial.

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s divorce affects the filming of Aquaman 2 and Fantastic Beasts 3

Being the lead actress in the highest-grossing DC Comics adaptation Aquaman, Amber Heard is now finding her in trouble with widespread calls to be replaced as Mera in its sequel, after many bad things in her relationship with Johnny Depp were revealed to the public.

 

Depp, meanwhile, becomes unsure about his role in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and his current role in Fantastic Beasts 3 has been a matter of concerns for the producer Warner Bros.

It’s now being rumoured that Amber is still in but Aquaman 2 will feature 3 main female characters in order to get the hear off of Amber Heard. The other 2 characters are still unknown so far. There’s even remours that Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke would be of one those.

And it’s being reported that both Aquaman 2 and Fantastic Beasts 3 are being filmed in a way that screen time for Heard’s Mera and Depp’s Grindelwald can be later edited and cut short without affecting the central stories. Maybe, by the premiering time, the producers would decide how to deal with ex-couples’ present on their movies based on the concurrent reactions from fans.
