Isle of the Dead will be set in Manhattan - the most crowded downtown district of i"Big Apple" New York City. The county is primarily made up of Manhattan Island (a river Isle), bounded by the Hudson, East, and Harlem rivers. Its iconic locations include skyscrapers like the Empire State Building, Time Square, and lavish Broadway theaters.
In the universe of The Walking Dead, Manhattan because of its unique geography has been isolated from the rest of America during the zombie apocalypse. We wonder what's going on here. Perhaps it is still a lavish, beautiful but deadly place.
Up to now, the context of The Walking Dead is mostly suburban and rural areas, focusing on scattered communities. The Walking Dead: World Beyond spin-off has previously explored several locations in New York, but Isle of the Dead will be the first series of which the setting covers a zombie-infested Manhattan.
The two characters Negan and Maggie are former foes, with a complicated relationship history; now they are temporarily in a "truce" and work together to save Alexandria. However, Negan left after realizing the instability in Maggie's psyche and he could become a victim of revenge at any time.
And fate will make them reunite in New York! Would they be come nice couples? Series stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will reprise the roles of Maggie and Negan.
Isle of the Dead is said (and expected) to reinvent a completely different TWD universe. The film is scheduled to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2023.
