Jason Momoa stars as Baba Voss, the father of twins born centuries later with the mythic ability to see, that some consider evil. As word spreads, it gets the attention of a cynical queen who will stop at nothing to get her hands on the twins because she believes this will lead to the destruction of the world.

Baba Voss must protect his tribe against a powerful yet desperate queen who believes it’s witchcraft and wants them destroyed. Voss is forced to rely on his instincts and must rally fellow tribes to take down the queen and her tyrannical cult before they can capture the children.

In this drama, Jason takes a wild shape, much more similar to the tribal husband of Danny in Game of Thrones, than the Aquaman. Alfre Woodard also stars as Paris, Baba Voss’ spiritual leader.

Justin Trudeau Wins Second Term As Prime Minister But As a Minority Government

Justin Trudeau has won a second term as Canada’s prime minister – but has lost his majority in parliament. His Liberal party had 157 seats in parliament – 13 short of the 170 needed for to be a majority.

This also means that Trudeau's party has lost 27 seats, considering the 184 seats in won in the 2015 election.  His popularity drops during the election campaign after photos of him in brownface and blackface during his years as a teacher emerged.

The Canadian vote came down to what was essentially a choice between Liberals’ Trudeau and the Conservatives’ Andrew Scheer.  Scheer’s party had secured an extra 26 seats, making it total in 121 seats in parliament.  Conservatives make real good progress but not strong enough to defeat Liberals.

Being a minority winner, Trudeau would have to rely on another small party in parliament, possible the left-wing New Democrats, to form government and pass future legislation.

Trudeau received an endorsement from former US president Barack Obama during the campaign.  After being updated with the results, on Twitter, Donald Trump congratulated Trudeau for his “wonderful and hard fought victory”, and wrote “I look forward to working with you toward the betterment of both of our countries,”.

Robot Sophia’s busy schedule in Africa: Africa Blockchain Conference and Davos of Human Capital

The two-day Conference and Tech Expo – the so-called The Africa Blockchain Conference 2019 will take place at the Kampala Serena Hotel, Uganda for the 3rd and 4th July 2019.

Robot Sophia will be a very special guest in attendance, to grace alongside other notable personalities like the President of Uganda and Sierra Leone President.

The conference will explore the aspects of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) – its opportunities as well as its threats.

Explaining the reason why Sophia the Robot is being invited as a special guest, Kwame Rugunda, the Chairman of the Blockchain Association of Uganda which is a co-organizer for the event said, “We are pleased to be hosting Sophia at this year’s Conference. She highlights many of the topics of interest that will be discussed at the Conference and shows how technology is enriching humanity. It’s human-like appearance and ability to express emotions will be a major attraction for all those that will be in attendance.”

After that, Robot Sophia and her creator David Hanson shall fly to South Africa to attend the Davos of Human Capital on 11 July, 2019 in Johannesburg. The purpose of this conference is to help the audience define the future for their organization in an era of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital disruption.

Digital disruption is a challenge for leaders around the world, but it is also a profound opportunity. The event will explore how we can shape the interaction between humanity and technology to build leadership for a better world.

Sharmla Chetty, Duke CE’s President for Global Markets which hosts the event said: “Many jobs and sectors will cease to exist – no industry or organisation is immune,”.

Chetty also comments on the coming attendance of Robot Sophia: “Sophia was created to be a research platform for ongoing AI and robotics research. We invited Sophia and Dr. Hanson to address this important issue of digital disruption facing our country. Sophia will provoke us to think and talk about how we step over the threshold and start better understanding AI and machine learning,”.

An interesting arrangement from the organizer: Upon bringing a children’s book to be donated to the Rally to Read Foundation, delegates to the conference will also have a once in a lifetime opportunity to take a selfie with Sophia.

The cute betting between Justin Trudeau and Nancy Pelosi: who won?

During his visit the the US, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau won American House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday over a bet that the Toronto Raptors would defeat the Golden State Warriors to win the NBA Championship.

To settle the wager, Pelosi presented Trudeau with a basket of California wine and chocolate at a joint news conference at the US Capitol – describing them as products of the great state of California -- starting with chocolate, almonds, walnuts, pistachios and wine.

In return, Trudeau also presented the loser with chocolate he said was made by a company called Peace by Chocolate in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.

The two politicians have met to talk about the recent progress made toward the ratification of the new NAFTA and expanding trade between Canada and the US.

Aquaman had to fly and his plane made an emergency landing

Aquaman star Jason Momoa could breathe, dive, swim, surf, fight, love … under the water deep deep under; but to fly over the sky he still needs a plane.

His private plane is a Cessna Citation 560 XL jet and on his way from Los Angeles to Phoenix the plane made an emergency landing at Palm Springs International Airport after the pilot reported an engine fire.

Of course Aquaman had to leave the plane for the inspection, after that the Palm Springs Aircraft Rescue and Firefighter team determined it was a false alarm.

He got on the plane and continuing his flight, without forgetting saying thanks for the Firefighters for their service.

Will Captain America survive the events of the Endgame?

Last year Chris Evans who played Captain America has effectively made it official on the New York Times that he'll leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe after wrapping the filming the Avengers 4.

The actor, who has played Captain America since 2011, said he'll suit up one last time this fall for planned reshoots for the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War. With that, his contract with Marvel Studios is up, and he has no plans to return.

Relating Chris Evans's leaving MCU and the possible plot of Avengers 4, many fans believe that Captain America won't survive the events of Endgame, although he survived the Infinity War.

As MCU devotees count the days to the April 26 release of Avengers: Endgame, directors Joe and Anthony Russo have shared an emotional video tribute to Chris Evans' Captain America, blending clips and audio from Evans' MCU appearance to honor his character.

Trudeau admits erosion of trust within his cabinet but denies any wrong doing

Amid the intensifying heat of the SNC-Lavalin scandal, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Thursday 7th March that he regretted an erosion of trust within his government but denied that he and his staff had applied inappropriate pressure on his former justice minister.

Transcript of Trudeau's remarks:

"What has become clear through the various testimonies is that over the past months there was an erosion of trust between my office and specifically my former principal secretary and the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General.

I was not aware of that erosion of trust does Prime Minister and leaders of the Federal Ministries.

I should have been in regards to standing up for jobs and defending the integrity of our rule of law.

I continue to say that there was no inappropriate pressure.

I'm obviously reflecting on lessons learned through this and I think Canadians expect that of us that anytime we go through periods of internal disagreement and indeed challenges to internal trust as we have there are things that we have to reflect on and understand and do better next time." The cuisines Vietnam served Donald Trump during the US - North Korea summit

Although the historical meeting between Donald Trump and  Kim Jong Un did not bring about dramatic outcomes as expected, cuisine lovers all around the world still have one thing to concern about: what are the courses the host country Vietnam prepares to serve the US President.

A luncheon was hosted on 27th Feb at Vietnam's White House (the new government building) where Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers formally receive guests. After a brief discussion with Prime Minister Phuc, Donald Trump enjoyed a lunch consisting of following courses:

Course 1: Fresh shredded green mango  salad with scallops, mint leaves, and cashew nuts served in a sweet vinaigrette dressing.

Course 2: Deep fried Hanoi-style spring rolls, with shrimp, pork, vermicelli, and vegetables, served with a side of sweet, sour fish sauce and red chilies

Course 3: King crab meat  and spinach in a light (and usually clear) seafood-based broth.

Course 4: Main entrée

      · Roasted Wagyu beef medallions with foige grass, and a semi-sweet fermented black rice (The fermented black rice may have an alcoholic essence due to the fermentation, similar to Japanese sake).

Where is the way out for Justin Trudeau in his SNC-Lavalin scandal?

Feb 2019 Toronto newspaper published an expose, claiming that prime minister Justine Trudeau  intervened in the criminal prosecution of a multinational engineering firm headquartered in Montreal called SNC-Lavalin with 50,000 employees worldwide. This led Trudeau into the biggest scandal ever in his political career.

TREDEAU’S IMPROPER EFFORTS TO PROTECT A COMPANY FROM CRIMINAL ACCUSATIONS?

The corporation was accused of a bribery and fraud scheme that funneled tens of millions of dollars to the family of former Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi a decade ago. If found guilty, the company could be banned from bidding on federal contracts in Canada for a decade.

Testifying before parliament, former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould said Trudeau himself pressured her to go easy on Lavalin. Jody Wilson-Raybould  recalled that he asked the prime minister "Are you politically interfering with my role, my decision as the attorney general? I would strongly advise against it," . Then the prime minister, said “No, no, no. We just need to find a solution.”

If the case was treated easily, it would became an agreement which would have allowed the company to pay reparations but avoid a criminal trial on charges of corruption and bribery.

Wilson-Raybould says Trudeau refused to back off. He and his staff kept pushing her for months in 2018, warning her that if the company was prosecuted aggressively, it could affect jobs in Montreal and cripple the Liberal Party's re-election chances.

 Former Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi

Their goal, she said, was to protect jobs while also bolstering the Libe ral Party's political standing in the province of Quebec ahead of next October's general election.

When the Liberals win Quebec, they often win a majority of seats in parliament. When they lose, they lose badly.

"I experienced a consistent and sustained effort by many people within the government to seek to politically interfere in the exercise of prosecutorial discretion," said Wilson-Raybould  on Feb. 27.

But Wilson-Raybould said the pressure was not illegal and said she was not instructed to interfere.

TRUDEAU’S DEFEND

Right after Wilson-Raybould’s testimony, the prime minister  told mass media that “I strongly maintain as I have from the beginning that I and my staff always acted appropriately and professionally. I therefore completely disagree with the former attorney general’s characterization of events.”

He raised his concern over the potential loss of 9,000 jobs in communities across the country, including the possible impact on pensions, if the SNC-Lavalin is found guilty.

However he emphasized that “the decision around SNC-Lavalin was Ms Wilson-Raybould’s and hers alone.” And “This decision is the attorney general’s alone.”

He also welcomed  the investigation by the ethics commissioner of the parliament “to clear the air on this matter” and it’s important that we trust him to do his job.

SCANDAL ESCALATED WITH MUCH CONSEQUENCES ANTICIPATED

Wilson-Raybould says she was later punished by Trudeau, who shoveled her out of the attorney general's post and gave her a lesser appointment in his cabinet. So she resigned over the affair – to become to first high ranking official leaving Trudeau’s cabinet over the scandal.

Then another high-profile cabinet minister, Treasury Board Secretary Jane Philpott, also stepped down after writing a public letter accusing Trudeau of violating the rule of law in Canada.

"It is a fundamental doctrine of the rule of law that our attorney-general should not be subjected to political pressure or interference regarding the exercise of her prosecutorial discretion in criminal cases," Philpott wrote in a letter to Trudeau who did not say a word of thanks for her service.

Situation even worsened when Trudeau’s top political adviser and longtime confidant Gerald Buttshas also resigned over the scandal. He's scheduled to testify about the Lavalin affair before a parliamentary committee. Trudeau thanks him for his service.

Storms are coming not only from his cabinet inside but also from editorial pages and newspapers across Canada and the Conservative Party. The rival is repeatedly calling for his resignation and a new criminal probe.

Justin Trudeau says he's taking scandal, resignations 'seriously'. Even if he survived the resignation to be still in power, the current scandal could open the door to the Conservative Party returning to power in national elections next fall, and it will be hard for him to regain the credibility he needs to push an ambitious agenda on climate change and health care spending.
