Obi-Wan Kenobi Series: The Current Face of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker [Star Wars]

During the first 4 episodes of the Obi Wan Kenobi 2022 series on Disney+, the Dark Vader character always appeared with a black helmet  covering his deformed face, which made fans think that they would not be able to see the present face of actor Hayden in this series. But that has changed in Episode/Part 5.

Hayden has appeared in his full form, shape and face at the age of 41 in several flashbacks, in which Dark Vader (still the Jedi Anakin at that time) was practicing lightsabers with Obi Wan – then his mentor and master. The flashback may take place before the events of Star War III – Revenge of the Sith (2005).

Instead of using CGI effects, the filmmakers seemed to keep the current faces of both actors Hayden (Anakin) and Ewan (Obi Wan); only makeup to make them look younger.

When filming Revenge of the Sith (2005), Hayden born in 1981 was at the age of 24.

Dark Vader at the time of the Obi Wan Kenobi series is at the peak of his power with the Force that can be called unmatched in the galaxy, but also a cunning, brutal and bloodthirsty villain.

In Daiyu, Obi-Wan seeks the help of Haja Estree (Kumail Nanjiani - who played Eternal Kingo). Haja often uses magic tricks to cheat the people here that he is a Jedi and has the Force; however he is also helpful in some way, just at a higher cost than usual.

Knowing of Obi-Wan's arrival, the Inquisitors order a blockade of the entire city. Haja instructs Obi-Wan to take Leia to a cargo port to escape, however they are chased by Reva the Third Sister.

Reva reveals that Anakin Skywalker is still alive, now known as the Dark Vader, and that Reva's goal is to capture Obi-Wan alive and hand over to Anakin.

The Grand Inquisitor appears and asks Reva to stand aside, let him the one to capture Obi-Wan. Reva does not hesitate to kill the Grand Inquisitor because she thought he wanted to steal her credit.

The chaos gives Obi-Wan and Leia a chance to escape.

Obi-Wan wants to soon train Luke in combat skills (into a Jedi - maybe), but the boy's adoptive father Owen does goes against this. Owen wants Luke to just grow up in a normal life into an ordinary young man.

On the planet Alderaan, Leia - Luke's twin sister is being raised as a princess by Senator Organa and his wife. She has certain intelligence, shrewdness and "philosophy" far beyond her 10 years old age.

Reva Sevander was once a Jedi but was corrupted by the dark side of the force. She becomes a ruthless, ambitious Inquisitor who is extremely hostile to Obi-Wan. To lure Obi-Wan out, Reva hires some bounty hunters to kidnap Princess Leia. Senator Organa and his wife have no choice but to call for help from Obi-Wan.

Obi-Wan proves to be reluctant to help Organa because his priority is Luke Skywalker instead of Leia and he senses the intensive hunting on him by Inquisitors.

The Coming Back of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Dark Vader in Star Wars Universe

The Star Wars Universe's Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi will return in a series of the same name that will air on Disney+ since May 25, 2022. The series is set 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) when the Empire is rising across the galaxy and continuing its hunt for the surviving Jedi.

At this point, Obi-Wan Kenobi wants to hide Anakin/Dark Vader's son Luke Skywalker from the Sith, so he sent the boy to his stepbrother's family to raise. To ensure the boy's safety, Obi-Wan only overwatchs Luke's growth, while constantly running away from the Empire's hunt.

The series will introduce a new "generation" of villains, the Inquisitors of the Empire - who are tasked with tracking down the surviving Jedi who are hiding across the galaxy after the Order 66.

A new planet that will be introduced to the series is Daiyu, which Showrunner Harold compares to Hong Kong with its "flashing nightlife"; it contrasts with the desert planet Tatooine which is the main setting of the series.

The Dark Vader character is also returning, and from the series poster, fans are anticipating a second earth-shattering duel between Dark Vader and Kenobi.

Thus, 17 years have passed since Ewan McGregor (Kenobi) and Hayden Christensen (Dark Vader) last played these characters. The two spend a lot of time watching the entire Star Wars Saga, including recent animated series, to be able to better understand and immerse themselves in the characters.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series can be seen as a prequel to much-anticipated The Mandalorian series, in which Luke Skywalker has entered his adulthood. The timing of the two contexts can be 10-15 years apart. Preliminary information shows that these two series are in the same universe but not closely related.
